Come to see the Sussex County Miners baseball team play at Skylands Stadium at the corner of Rt. 206 and Rt. 15 (Ross’s Corner) in Augusta, NJ.  Enjoy a spectacular post-game fireworks show at the Stadium.  You can purchase tickets at the Stadium that night.  Field Level seats are $14.  Dinner before the game 5:30 PM at the Wheelhouse Kitchen and Bar at the Stadium.For more information please contact outdoorsinglefriends@gmail.com.

 

 

Sunday August 28, 2016 11:00 AM  NY Renaissance Faire, 600  NY 17A Sterling Forest, Tuxedo Park, NY  $24 Adults. Discount tickets for seniors available at the gate. Walgreens will sell discounted tickets but are not yet priced. Meet at gate at 11AM, there are plenty of places to eat at the faire. It will take about 45 min. to 1 hr from Rt. 80  to get there. Directions: take Rt. 80 east or west to Rt. 287 North to the New York State Thruway. Exit 15A to NY 59 Sloatsburg / Suffern, take the ramp towards Tuxedo Park Rt.17 North continue through Sloatsburg & Tuxedo Park at the traffic light there is a sign for Sterling Forest. Turn left at the light & another left at stop sign (this is 17A) stay on 17A until you see signs for the fair. Parking will be on the right. Take Rt 287 to exit 47 then 202 North (Main St.) do not go under the railroad overpass keep the Train Station on your right, make a left onto Jacksonville Rd. Sunday September 11, 2016 at 11:00AM Lenni Lenape Picnic Area 1 Knoll Drive, Parsippany Admission is $6. Please bring a dish to share. OSF will supply hot dogs, hamburgers & beverages. Directions: from Rt.46 West Turn right onto N. Beverwyck Rd. (From Rt.46 East turn left) proceed approximately 2 miles to the end of the road (blinking light.) Make a left onto Knoll Dr. Picnic area is on the left just past the country club; which is on the right. Coming from Route 23 Pompton area, take I-287 South to Exit 47 (Route 202, Montville, Lincoln Park). Make a left off the ramp onto 202 South and follow around to the MontvilleInn.  At the Inn go STRAIGHT onto River Road (keeping the inn on your
right).  Follow River Road for about 1.5 miles to Condurso’s Garden Center on left.  Make the next right onto Knoll Road.  Pass Delta gas station on right and take next right onto Knoll Drive (Knoll Country Club).  Drive past the club house and Lenni Lenape Picnic Area will be ahead on the left. . Friday September 16, 2016 6:30PM  Death Trap Comedy/Thriller at the Barn Theater  Skyline Drive, Montville, NJ Every year the Barn Theater in Montville donates the theater and their cast to one of the non-profit organizations in town, this year Towaco Civic Association (which I am Secretary) was picked, we will be co-sponsoring it with the Towaco Fire Department since there are 234 seats.  Proceeds of the event go to the sponsors and our organization will be using them to help fund our scholarship fund and other projects that are in the planning stage. $25.00/person which includes dinner (probably  sandwiches, salads          and other finger foods, desert, coffee and plenty of cold refreshments. Directions: Rt. 80 to 287 N  exit 47 towards Montville  turn Right onto Rt. 202 S go approx 1 mile,  turn to your Left (Montville Inn on your Right) to River Road  go approx .02 mile  Skyline Drive on Right  go to end into parking lot.Directions from  Rt 287 S  exit 47 to Montville  turn Left  202 S at end of exit - follow above directions.

We will meet a Rockaway Mall by the food court at 9:30AM and car pool to the center. The feature at the center is Bodies Revealed plus 4 floors of permanent presentations. Sunday September 25, 2016 2PM Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum, 6 Lakeside Blvd. Landing NJ. Meet in front of the museum at 2pm.  Admission is free, a donation is requested.  Enjoy seeing memorabilia of Lake Hopatcong in the olden days when the lake was booming with celebrities and Bertram’s Island was a popular summer destination. We will then car pool to the boardwalk on the Appalachian Trail for a nice easy 2 mile walk across Pochuck Valley in Vernon. After we will have lunch at George’s Inn on Route 94 in Mcafee. Wednesday October 5, 2016 at 2:00PM. Morristown Airport & Early Dinner.  This will be a tour of a corporate flight department hangar and aircraft, and includes a tour of the control tower and airport operations facility equipment, and aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle.  We will assemble at the corporate hangar to begin our visit.  The date for this event is subject to change depending on the flight schedule of this entity.  We will have dinner nearby at the conclusion of the tours. Saturday October 15, 2016 at 10:00AM Hudson Farms Hike Charity Hike. Free. Hudson Farm will make a charity donation of a dollar for each year of your age. We will meet AT THE REGISTRATION DESK at 10am. This is a challenging hike involving uneven ground and hills. Wear sturdy shoes and if you like take a walking stick. After the walk lunch for all will be provided by Hudson Farm. Directions:  Rt. 80 W to exit 25. Proceed for 1/4 mile, bear left onto Rt. 206 N. At third traffic light, turn right onto Lackawanna Drive (Rt. 607S), near the Shop Rite Plaza. Continue for two miles, (see Lake Lackawanna on your right). At the stop sign go straight, but veer to your right a little. Proceed through a tunnel and continue for 1/2 mile. Come to flashing red light, turn left onto Stanhope Road (Rt. 605 N).  Continue for 500! Yards. See a gap in the guardrail and a sign for Hudson Farm. The walk is a level route and will be held at the Bergen County Community College Campus, 400 Paramus Rd. Paramus N.J. RAIN OR SHINE. Plan to visit this Federal-style mansion built in 1810 and the former home of George Maccullouch, father of the Morris Canal, with nine splendid rooms and a collection  of Thomas Nast's works, gift area, and outdoor gardens.  Admission for seniors is $6,00.
