Saturday February 6, 2016 10 AM Horseshoe Lake Walk & Lunch Roxbury  This is a flat ¾ of a mile walk. We will meet in the parking lot on Eyland Ave. After our walk, we will have lunch at the Roxbury Diner on Rt. 10 Directions: From Rt. 10 East make a right onto Eyland Ave. Horseshoe Lake will be about ¾ of a mile down on your left. From Rt. 10 West take the jug handle at Rt. 10 & Eyland Ave., cross over Rt. 10 and follow Eyland Ave. for about ¾ of a mile; Lake & parking lot will be on your left. Rain or Snow will Cancel. Sunday February 14, 2016 11 AM Camp Jefferson Everything Chocolate and Book Swap.  This month at our February meeting we will be hosting our everything chocolate meeting.  If you’re not a chocoholic (hard to believe), we will also offer some fruit etc as an addition for those people who would rather have something other than chocolate. In addition we will have our annual BOOK SWAP. Please bring your books to swap with others. This will offer you good books to read on a cold day while you stay warm in your home. Sunday February 21, 2016 10 AM Cracker Barrel Breakfast & Frozen in Ice Adventure

This is an indoor/outdoor event. We will meet at Cracker Barrel, 172 Howard Blvd, Mt. Arlington for breakfast (order off menu). After breakfast we can carpool to Skylands Stadium (directions will be provided). This is an outdoor event. Be sure to bundle up, it will be cold. The ice sculptures include a log cabin, a horse-drawn carriage and much more. You will be able to warm up by sipping hot chocolate, cappuccino or coffee. Hot food is also available. Sunday March 6, 2016 1 PM Minerals Resort & Spa Vernon & Lunch   Come enjoy an afternoon at Minerals Resort & Spa in Vernon, N J. We will meet at the Sit n’ Chat Diner on Rt. 23N in Franklin, N J at 1PM. The Diner is about ¼ mile on the right after passing the Franklin Shop Rite and Raceway gas station. After lunch we will continue going north on Rt.23 to Hamburg, turning right onto Rt. 94. Bear right at fork in McAfee onto Rt. 94.  Minerals Resort is about a mile past the fork on the right. Entrance fee is $20.00, towels are provided. Please wear flip flops or plastic sandals. There are 2 jacuzzis; one hot, the other hotter; a steam room & sauna; heated indoor & outdoor pools with waterfalls. All are included, as well as a gym. If using the gym, sneakers are recommended. Sunday March 13, 2016 Camp Jefferson  Voting for the 2016 OSF Board and Chair Yoga.  At this meeting we will be serving sub sandwiches and cold salads. The members will be voting for the new OSF board.  We will also have a guest speaker on yoga. For 30-45 min. we will learn to recognize the stress and tensions within our bodies. We must recognize it to relieve it. Chair/sitting yoga asana (postures-- to be seated in a position that is firm, but relaxed) are simple and easy to do anywhere!  There is absolutely no prerequisite, just come with an open mind and, if you desire, a blanket.

 

Saturday April 2, 2016 10:30 AM  Museum of Early Trades and Crafts in Madison.  Tour and presentation by Meg Wastie (she was our October meeting speaker). “Through a Glass Brightly” will cover the 56 stained glass windows in the museum, many adorned with quotes from the art, sciences and humanities.  You will see the beautiful details of the window designs and learn about the quotes and writers depicted in the windows. There is a gift shop on site. Directions will be in a future issue of the newsletter. Lunch will follow at a local restaurant. Sunday April 10, 2016 12-4PM Installation Dinner La Strada Restaurant   Rt.10 East, Randolph, NJ. Come out and join with your OSF friends and meet the new OSF board for 2016-2017. This year the board will be subsidizing the cost of the meal. The cost will be $30 which will include a sit down dinner with a selection of tilipia with arugula, veal scaloppini, or chicken marsala; pasta, salad, coffee, tea & dessert. Wednesday May 4, 2016 9AM Mercer Museum Doylestown, PA This is a six story concrete castle completed in 1916. It houses Henry Mercer’s vast collection of early American everyday objects. The cost will be $11. More details to follow.

 

Saturday May 14, 2016  11:45AM   Mangia Hoboken Food & Culture Tour  We will meet at the Dover train station, train leaves on the hour and takes a little over 1hr to get to Hoboken. The tour starts at 2PM and lasts 3.5 hours. This is a flat easy walk for everyone. The price is $46 for the tour & tasting. The train costs $10.30 round trip for everyone over 62. Trains leaves Hoboken a few minutes after the hour til around 10PM. Advanced payment is required Each person can make their reservation on line at www.hobokenfoodtour.com or call Ovi 201-653-1500. Once you have made your reservations please let me know. This tour is focused on smaller family owned businesses where tasting is available; such as Italian bread bakeries-hand made fresh mozzarella-cheese and last but not least Carlo’s City Hall Bakery along with points of local interest such as Frank Sinatra’s boyhood home. Saturday May 21, 2016 11AM Walk on Patriot's Path in Morristown& LunchMeet at entrance to this section of the Path on Route 202 South Speedwell Avenue), Morristown) at 11AM. Coming from Route 10 take a right at Route 202(Speedwell Avenue). The Path, located beyond Morris Plains, is situated about one block on the right from Historic Speedwell (their number is 333 Speedwell Ave).  Or, if you are coming from the Morristown Green going north on Route 202,you will see the Path entrance just about a block before Historic Speedwell with the entrance on the left side. There's a winding, sloping driveway entrance with a gravel parking lot for free parking. A huge monument sits at the west side of the lot. You can't miss that. Dress for a slow, relaxed walk, and bring appropriate gear, water, and snack. No flip-flops or pets. Inclement weather cancels.
